ZEBULON, N.C. - The Milwaukee Brewers announced a series of roster transactions today with several affecting the Carolina Mudcats active roster. The moves included the transfer of RHP Cody Ponce to Rookie Level Helena and the transfer of RHP Parker Berberet from Low-A Wisconsin to Carolina.
Ponce, 23, was 7-6 with a 3.42 ERA over 17 starts with the Mudcats before the move. He had also totaled 79 strikeouts and 20 walks over 94.2 innings pitched. Ponce was a mid-season Carolina League All-Star and ranked 10th in the Carolina League in earned run average at the time of the move.
Berberet, 27, pitched in 18 games for the Timber Rattlers before his move to High-A Carolina and was 2-4-3 with 43 strikeouts and 15 walks over 47.0 innings pitched. Berberet was originally drafted as a position player by the Brewers in the 25th round of the 2011 draft and is in his first year as a pitcher.
The Mudcats roster is currently at 25 active players with four on the disabled list.
