Manchester, NH - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run walk-off homer to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 6-5 win in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, as part of a twinbill split with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Game 1: 6-5 Fisher Cats
Guerrero Jr. went 4-for-4 with three singles and a walk-off homer as the Fisher Cats won the first game of the double dip. New Hampshire trailed 5-3 entering the final frame, but Jonathan Davis started the bottom of the seventh with a two-bagger and scored on a double by Bo Bichette to make it 5-4. Guerrero then homered off closer Tyler Bashlor (L, 0-1) to right center field for the win.
Danny Young (W, 1-0), who worked two scoreless innings in relief, earned the win for the Fisher Cats after taking over for starter Jon Harris. Harris allowed solo homers to start the second and third innings by Jhoan Urena and Champ Stuart to give the Rumble Ponies a 2-0 lead. New Hampshire took advantage of two Binghamton errors to rally for the lead.
Guerrero singled home Jonathan Davis for one run,Andrew Guillotte's sacrifice fly tied the contest, and Guerrero scored on a double by Cavan Biggio for another run. After the Fisher Cats had taken a 3-2 edge in the fifth, Binghamton scored three times on six singles in the sixth inning for a 5-3 lead.
Game 2: 10-8 Rumble Ponies (F/9)
Patrick Cantwell homered and doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Binghamton scored three times in the top of the eighth and ninth innings to earn a split of the Sunday doubleheader and a series win over New Hampshire.
Matt Oberste's two-run blast in the top of the ninth inning proved to be the difference, giving Binghamton a 10-7 lead. The Fisher Cats only managed to score once in the bottom of the ninth with a Harold Ramirez sacrifice fly.
Oliver Pascual had three hits, including an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning, to pace Binghamton. Zach Jackson (L, 1-2) took the loss for the Fisher Cats. Kevin Taylor opened the game with a base hit and Jeff McNeil homered to put Binghamton up 2-0 in the top of the first inning. New Hampshire answered in the bottom of the frame. Jonathan Davis, who had reached on an error and stole second, scored on a single by Guerrero (who finished 5-for-7 on the day) to cut the lead to 2-1. Patrick Cantwell tied it with a solo homer leading off the bottom of the third. The Fisher Cats would take the lead for the first time in the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning. Guillotte was hit by a pitch and Juan Kelly walked. Guillotte scored when a pick-off attempt was thrown away. The Rumble Ponies scored a pair in the top of the fifth inning on Jeff McNeil's two-run single off Nick Tepesch, giving Binghamton a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ramirez, who had walked, scored on a double by Cantwell. New Hampshire loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't push a run across.

The Fisher Cats play at Reading Tuesday through Thursday this week. The team returns home on Friday night to open a long homestand through Memorial Day Weekend. On Friday, the Fisher Cats will welcome the Hartford Yard Goats for a 6:35 p.m. game. An Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game, presented by AutoFair.
