Delta Dental Stadium has been the home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats since its gates first opened in April of 2005. Perched on the shore of the Merrimack River in the heart of downtown Manchester, the ballpark serves as a home base for 69 Fisher Cats home games and countless events of all kinds each year. Scores of future Major League Baseball players have taken the field at the stadium, including over 150 former Fisher Cats who went on to play at the highest level.
Delta Dental Stadium is within walking distance of many local landmarks, including Manchester's mill district, the SNHU Arena, the WMUR television station, the University of New Hampshire at Manchester college campus, and countless restaurants, bars, and hotels. It has an open concourse, allowing fans to view the action on the field at all times, and includes 32 luxury suites that line the upper level and provide fans with a panoramic view of the field as well as two private 100-person party decks on the first and third base sides.
The facility originally known as Fisher Cats Stadium when it opened in 2005 and later christened Merchantsauto.com Stadium was designed by the renowned architectural firm HNTB out of Kansas City. It was built on the former site of Singer Park in the Manchester Millyard, a soccer (and occasionally rugby) stadium that was also used for circuses, carnivals and a summer concert series. A year after its inaugural season, the stadium welcomed a new neighbor: the Hilton Garden Inn beyond the outfield wall, making it the only ballpark in the country that shares it's location with a hotel.
In 2008, the Samuel Adams Brewhouse was built beyond the left field wall, bringing a full-service bar and restaurant within the ballpark's confines. The Brewhouse is open to the public before and during Fisher Cats home games and can be reserved for private events as well. That season saw the first of three Eastern League All-Star Games arrive in Manchester.
Three years later, the team debuted a new red, white and blue color scheme and announced its current partnership with insurance company Northeast Delta Dental to secure the ballpark's naming rights for ten years. Highlights from that year include another Eastern League All-Star Game and the organization's second of two Eastern League championships.
Fast forward to 2017, when the Fisher Cats announced an ambitious stadium renovation. With team owner Art Solomon funding the million-dollar project, new additions to Delta Dental Stadium included: tiered seating in left field, a state-of-the-art live music stage, a Tiki Bar and a rock waterfall at the top of the main entrance stairs. The organization partnered with Market Square Architects, Fulcrum Associates and Stonemakers of Merrimack to complete the renovations.
With a capacity of 6,500 and a record crowd of 8,903 - who witnessed MLB Hall of Famer John Smoltz make a rehab start for the Portland Sea Dogs on May 26, 2009 - to its name, Delta Dental Stadium is a premier regional hub for events of all types.
The field favors left-handed hitters. Ballpark dimensions are: 326 feet down the left field line, 380 feet to left center, 400 feet to center field, 353 to right center and 306 feet down the right field line.
