Dear Loons Family,

From our inception, the Great Lakes Loons and the Michigan Baseball Foundation (MBF) have been committed to providing a fun, family-friendly and safe environment for our fans attending Loons games at Dow Diamond. Rest assured, our staff remains dedicated to providing these experiences to our fans.

As many of you are now aware, last week Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a State of Emergency for the state of Michigan in an effort to limit the development, contraction and spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). As part of this declaration, the state of Michigan has prohibited mass gatherings of 50 people or more through Sunday, April 5. The Great Lakes Loons fully support these measures as our top priority is the health and safety of our fans, staff, players and community.

As a result, all public and private events previously scheduled during this window have been cancelled. In addition, the front office for the Loons, ESPN 100.9-FM, MBF and Dow Diamond will be closed to the general public during this time frame and our staff will be conducting business electronically and by phone.

We are staying up to date with all direction from local and state agencies and organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our partners at Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball. We’re optimistic about Loons baseball returning to Dow Diamond this season. While we don’t yet have definitive answers as to when that will be, we remain committed to providing all information as it becomes available to us.

We have created a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section on our website to provide more insight into any questions fans may have. You can always call us at 989-837-2255 or email us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to provide any additional clarification.

On behalf of the entire staff of the Great Lakes Loons and MBF, we truly appreciate your support and understanding during this unprecedented time for our community and country.

Warm Loons Regards,

Brad Tammen
