Mascot Performer Wanted

July 22, 2012
Are you an energetic and animated individual who enjoys being the center of attention? Do you enjoy making people laugh with goofy antics? Do you enjoy performing, especially in costume? If you've answered yes to these questions, we've got the position for you.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees is searching for a strong performer to fulfill the part-time role of our mascot, CHAMP. Although he is known best for his antics at PNC Field, CHAMP also makes several community appearances a month to events such as parades, festivals, fundraisers and birthday parties. Since the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will be playing on the road for the 2012 season due to renovations at PNC Field, it will be important for CHAMP to be seen around town on a regular basis. We're hoping to find a responsible individual with a flexible schedule who is excited to represent our team. Various availability during the day, evening and weekend hours is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Attending community and sponsor-related events - such as fundraisers, parades and birthday parties - to perform in the CHAMP suit and interact with participants and fans.
- Providing energetic entertainment for public events, such as dancing and participating in activities.
- Posing for photos with both adults and children.
- Proper interaction with children, including children with disabilities.
- Walking or possibly driving a four-wheel ATV in local parades and interacting with parade-goers.
- Representing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in a suitable manner consistent with the organization's community goals and initiatives.

Requirements:

- Due to the size of the CHAMP suit, performer must be at least 5'8" tall.
- Performer must demonstrate ability to move around confidently and with ease while in the CHAMP suit.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable form of transportation.
- Must be energetic and animated while interacting with persons as mascot.
- Performer must be willing to attend events on nights and weekends.
- Past performance experience (theater, dance, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to operate a four-wheel ATV is preferred, although not required.
- A performer local to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area is strongly preferred.

This is a wonderful part-time experience for an individual who is looking to get his or her first experiences in sports. Qualified individuals may send resumes and cover letters to [email protected], fax 570.963.6564 or call 570.969.2255, ext. 3140 for more information.
