Compton becomes Generals' new GM

Peasley hired as vice president of sales and marketing

JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Jackson Generals announced today at a 10 a.m. press conference at Pringles Park that Huntingdon, Tenn., native, Jason Compton, has been named the club's new general manager. Compton has been promoted from his assistant general manager role. Also, Mike Peasley has been hired as the new vice president of sales and marketing for the Generals.

"We are proud of Jason, and the work he has put in over his 12 years with the organization," said Generals president, Reese Smith III. "Having watched Jason over the years, we have the utmost confidence that he will help take this franchise to the next level. David [Freeman] and I are excited to be promoting from within the organization."

Compton was an intern with the Diamond Jaxx during the 2000 Southern League Championship season and was hired full-time in July 2001. During his 12 seasons with the organization, he was director of ticketing & merchandise, director of group sales, and was promoted to assistant general manager in May 2008.

"I want to thank Reese, David and the entire ownership group for having the trust and confidence in me to lead the organization," said Compton. "It is an honor to be only the fourth general manager in franchise history, but I am most proud to be the first that has been from West Tennessee." Compton also added, "Our goals and visions of making Pringles Park the premier place for affordable entertainment in West Tennessee have not changed. If anything, they will be intensified for the upcoming season."

Jason graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1997, and then went on to receive his Bachelors of Science in education with a major in sport management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2001. Jason and his wife, Autumn, live in Jackson with their son, Carter Neyland and daughter, Chloe.

Mike Peasley has been hired as vice president of sales and marketing for the Generals. Mike recently completed a Master's in business administration from Union University with a 4.0 GPA, and has been a local realtor for the last five years.

Mike is involved in the community through coaching basketball and soccer, as well as volunteering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, R.I.F.A. Soup Kitchen, and the American Red Cross. Mike and his wife Kristin, live in Jackson.
