New Jersey Wins Special Olympics Gold At ARM & HAMMER Park

Last night at ARM & HAMMER Park, Team New Jersey captured the Gold Medal in the Special Olympics USA Games Inaugural Baseball Finals. Team Rhode Island earned the Silver Medal, Team Delaware earned Bronze and Team Alabama finished in fourth. 

This was the first time that the sport of baseball was included in the Special Olympics USA Games. The Medal Round Games at ARM & HAMMER Park drew thousands of friends, families and fans.

"Last night was truly a special night of baseball at ARM & HAMMER Park," said Thunder General Manager/COO Will Smith. "The sportsmanship, enthusiasm and passion on the field and in the stands was remarkable and will not be forgotten by anyone who came to witness history."

The hosting of the Baseball Finals was part of a partnership between the Thunder, Special Olympics New Jersey and the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games that included over 10,000 Special Olympics athletes, coaches, volunteers and family members attending Thunder games this week.
