Angels prospect Connor Van Scoyoc led the way in the AFL's first shutout performance of the season, twirling five frames of three-hit ball with no walks and three strikeouts. Two of the three hits that Van Scoyoc allowed came in the first inning, after which the 22-year-old retired 13 of the final 15 batters he faced. Tyler Myrick (Giants) completed the seven-inning shutout by striking out four over two perfect frames. Cesar Prieto produced the game's only RBI with his second triple and finished with two hits. Robert Perez Jr.’s go-ahead three-run home run in the third powered Peoria on Friday to its seventh win, tied for the most in the Fall League. Top-ranked Padres prospect Jackson Merrill, Alberto Rodriguez and David Fry also drove in runs for the Javelinas, who leaned on 4 2/3 innings of lockdown relief from three bullpen arms to seal the victory. Their damage came mostly off Rafters starter Matt Walker, who was charged with five runs in 2 2/3 innings opposite winning pitcher Mike Vasil, the No. 11 Mets prospect.
