Eshelman On The Mound For Series Opener

The IronPigs (48-24) continue their seven-game Northern Division road trip with a four-game series beginning tonight against the Rochester Red Wings (35-33) at Frontier Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

RHP Tom Eshelman , who recently celebrated his 23^rd birthday on June 20, makes his ninth start for the Pigs tonight. In his last outing, the reigning International League Pitcher of the Month picked up his fifth win in a 5-2 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs on June 17. He tossed seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on six hits while fanning three batters.
RHP Yohan Pino makes his sixth start of the season for the Red Wings after suffering the loss in his last start on June 17 against the Pawtucket Red Sox. In that outing, Pino tossed seven 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while walking a pair and striking out three.
J.P. Crawford  delivered a three-run go-ahead double in the top of the ninth to cap off a five-run ninth inning for the IronPigs in a 6-3 comeback victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox (34-35) Wednesday night at McCoy Stadium.
Trailing 3-1 in the top of the ninth, the Pigs offense exploded for a five-run rally to take a 6-3 lead.
The inning began with Héctor Gómez  reaching on a fielding error by Paw Sox right fielder Bryce Brentz . Nick Williams  then followed with a walk to set up Angelo Mora  with the tying run on base. Mora would pop out to third and the Pigs were down to their final two outs.
Logan Moore  then stepped to the plate and laced a RBI double to right field, scoring Gomez with Williams trotting in safely to third to give the Pigs the go-ahead run in scoring position. Osmel Aguila  then walked on seven pitches to load the bases for Pedro Florimón  who walked to plate the tying run in Williams.
J.P. Crawford then sent a three-run base-clearing double to give the Pigs a 6-3 lead as he plated Aguila, Jorge Flores  who pinch ran for Moore and Florimon.
Pedro Beato  then came on to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning for the Pigs to preserve the 6-3 lead. After issuing a lead-off double to Blake Swihart , Beato settled in and got Jantzen Witte  to fly out and Mike Miller  to pop out to second to put the Paw Sox down to their final out. Beato then struck out Matt Dominguez  to end the game and seal his International League and Minor League leading 22^nd save of the year.
The Pigs opened up the scoring on the night as Crawford plated Aguila on a RBI groundout to give the Pigs an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third.
After blanking the Paw Sox in the first two games of the series, Ryan Court  sent a two-run home run to left to give the Red Sox a 2-1 advantage in the bottom half of the inning. It ended the Pigs team scoreless innings pitched streak of 21 innings pitched dating back to the final inning against the Syracuse Chiefs Sunday afternoon.
The Chiefs added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Heiker Menses sent a ground-rule double to left field to score Mike Miller.
Pigs starter César Ramos  tossed six innings while surrendering the three runs on seven hits while walking a batter and striking out a pair before giving way to Pat Venditte .
Venditte took over the pitching duties in the seventh inning, as the switch-pitcher tossed two scoreless innings issuing just two walks. The Omaha, Neb., native picked up his International League leading seventh win of the season in the Pigs 6-3 comeback win.
With the win, the Pigs swept the Paw Sox for the first time at McCoy Stadium in franchise-history.
