Ethan Hedges was good as gold at the hot corner all season long. Now, he's got the trophy to prove it. The Spokane Indians third baseman was one of just nine Minor League recipients of a 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove Award® for defensive excellence as announced this morning by Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) and Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc.
Hedges played in 106 games at the hot corner for High-A Spokane, handling 251 total chances with 168 assists for a .976 fielding percentage. The 22-year-old also starred at the plate for the Indians, leading the team in home runs (16), RBI (76), hits (119), doubles (26), and total bases (193). A native of Fountain Valley, CA, Hedges was selected by Colorado in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft out of the University of Southern California.
"I am so excited for Ethan receiving this award, but not surprised," said Spokane Indians manager Tom Sutaris. "He was incredible this year at third base. Ethan is a gifted defender and worked tirelessly with [Spokane bench coach] Edgardo Lebron. I could not be more proud of him."
The winners at each position were selected from players in the 11 full-season Minor Leagues. Each player will receive his own
Rawlings Gold Glove Award, modeled after the iconic award given to Major League Baseball’s top defensive players, during the 2027 season.
“These players demonstrated exceptional defensive ability throughout the 2026 season, setting themselves apart as elite fielders,” said Peter Woodfork, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President, Minor League Operations and Development. “On behalf of Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball and our valued partners at Rawlings, I’m honored to congratulate each recipient of the prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove Award.”
Hedges is the third Indians player in the team's current affiliation with Colorado to earn a Minor League Gold Glove Award, joining third baseman Kyle Karros in 2024 and outfielder Brenton Doyle in 2021.
