Keegan Akin tossed six scoreless innings and Christopher Bostick drove in three runs as the Tides completed a three-game series sweep of the Toledo Mud Hens Thursday afternoon at Fifth Third Field.

Akin (2-1) was dominant on the mound to earn his second win of the season, allowing just three hits and walking one while striking out nine over his six shutout innings. The win marks Akin's second in a row, as he earned his first win of the season in his last start on May 10th at home against Buffalo, when he allowed just one run through 6.2 innings.
Sean Gilmartin followed Akin's strong start with a scoreless seventh out of the bullpen, extending his scoreless innings streak to 10.1 innings. Gilmartin has allowed no earned runs, just three hits and struck out six over his last five appearances.
Jay Flaa then tossed hitless frames in the eighth and ninth to complete the combined four-hit shutout for Norfolk, marking the first shutout victory for the Tides since April 14th when they blanked the Mud Hens 3-0 at Harbor Park.
Neither team scored until the Tides put up four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Christopher Bostick and a two-run single from DJ Stewart.
Bostick would later blast a two-run homer in the ninth to extend Norfolk's lead to 6-0, capping off a three-hit, three-RBI day. Bostick has been the most reliable bat for the Tides with runners in scoring position this season, as he holds a team-leading .469 average (15-32) with RISP. As a team, Norfolk has hit a league-leading .328 with runners in scoring position this season.
With the win, the Tides now have a record of 19-19, bringing them back to the .500 mark for the first time since April 5th when they were 1-1.
The Tides will travel to Indianapolis to begin a three-game weekend series with the Indians Friday night, with first pitch set for 7:15 and airtime on ESPN Radio 94.1 scheduled for 7:00 from Victory Field. RHP Luis Ortiz (1-3, 6.31) gets the start for Norfolk as he will face RHP Eduardo Vera (1-3, 5.35) for Indianapolis.
