Corporate Sales and Promotions Account Executive 

Job Description
This position is an entry-level opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a functional front office within the sports industry while focusing on the fast-paced world of sales and promotions. We are looking for a motivated individual who is looking to start their sports sales career who can network comfortably with community leaders and build long-term sponsorship relationships for the organization. This position requires a great deal of time, dedication and hard work during the season. In addition, this position will work all home games working with the Tides promotions team.

Responsibilities:
• Renew existing sponsorship accounts
• Develop potential leads
• Cold call local businesses and organizations
• Handle incoming sponsorship calls
• Set appointments over the phone with decision-makers, consistently meeting the weekly goals for sales appointments.
• Create and sell sponsorship packages to new prospects
• Participate in various sales, team and community events as assigned.
• Represent organization at various networking events.
• Manage multiple promotions/fan experience assets each game day
• Represent the Norfolk Tides in a positive and professional manner at all times

Job Requirements
• Must work all Norfolk Tides home games
• Must be able to handle stress and time management in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Must be detailed oriented, strong communications skills, teamwork, and enthusiasm
• Ability to multitask, organized, and focus on customer service
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Bachelor's degree (or requisite experience) required
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to provide superior customer service
• Sales experience is preferred, within the sports or entertainment industry a plus
• Basic understanding of Spanish preferred

Group Sales Representative

Job Description

• Works closely with the Director of Ticket Sales
• Sell groups, corporate packages through relationship building
• Identify and generate new sales opportunities, including following up on inbound leads, prospecting cold calls, and contacting companies and individuals
• Maintain group renewals
• Prospecting and developing new client relationships
• Day-to-day customer support
• Meet and exceed all weekly and end of year sales goals
• Assist with setup of hospitality areas in Harbor Park
• Assist in the supervision of the hospitality areas in Harbor Park
• Accurately track and provide regular reports detailing sales activities, pipeline status 
• Represent the Norfolk Tides in a positive and professional manner at all times

Communications Internship

Job Description

The Tides are seeking a talented individual to assist in the Media Relations Department during the 2020 season. This position begins in early February and runs through the end of the season in September. The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge of baseball with a background in communications, media relations or sports information.  Applicants must be available to work the entire season schedule. 

•  Compile daily game notes and statistical information for both home and road contests
•  Assist with production of team publications, including game-day program and media guide
•  Help facilitate interview requests with local and national media
•  Edit and upload video highlights for use on Tides social media platforms
•  Update team website with game stories, promotions and general content
•  Create graphics, headshots and promotional content for use on video boards
•  Act as MLB stringer for select home contests
•  Assist with supervision and staffing of press level employees
•  Work alongside promotional team and community relations department when necessary
•  Other tasks as assigned

Experience Required

An Ideal candidate would have

•  A bachelor's degree in a related field
•  An advanced knowledge of the rules of baseball
•  Previous experience with a professional team or collegiate program
•  Strong writing and interpersonal skills
•  Previous experience with using a website Content Management System
•  Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and publishing software like InDesign or Quark Xpress

Box Office Internship

Job Description

Full Season Internship with the Norfolk Tides, which runs from February through Labor Day.

•   Train, develop, and supervise Box Office personnel
•   Sell ticket plans to customers via outbound phone calls, face-to-face appointments and incoming inquiries
•   Responsible for daily Box Office activities
•   Maintain daily ticket office accounting records, balance and deposits all ticket monies daily
•   Provide an effective working relationship with other staff, ticket plan holders and the general public
•   The position requires minor lifting and handling of heavy/large objects
•   Maintains an awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
•   Operates computers and maintains all cash in an accurate and efficient manner. 
•   Communicates customer requests to management and assisting patrons.
•   Additional duties and game day responsibilities assigned as necessary

Experience Required

•   Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Products
•   Must be flexible and responsive to a fast paced, high demand environment
•   Ticketmaster ticketing system experience is helpful
•   Strong oral and written communication skills
•   Prior customer service experience preferred

Community Relations Internship

Job Description

Groundskeeper Internship

Job Description

Season-long internship. Responsibilities include the following: Bullpen maintenance, general field maintenance, mowing, tarp, batting practice set up. Intern expected to work all 70 Tides home games as well as any other non-baseball events on the field. Other responsibilities as required.

Previous Baseball grounds keeping experience (2+ years) or turf management degree preferred
