The Norfolk Tides are the Triple-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and we play our games at Harbor Park in downtown Norfolk, VA. The positions below are available for the upcoming season. Please note that many of the positions - including most internships - start prior to the beginning of our regular season.


Video/Creative Services Intern

The Video and Creative Services intern will assist the Tides front office staff in managing the heartbeat of the Tides brand through dynamic, consistent design and content solutions across all platforms and mediums. The Video and Creative Services intern will leverage their passion for sports, entertainment, and pop culture to enhance and drive fan conversations and interactions in-park, in the community and on social media.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging content for the Tides social media platforms including, but not limited to; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn through photography, video, copywriting and graphic design.
  • Assist with team-focused social media campaigns and day-to-day activities by promoting team content that will resonate with the audience and drive consumption while maintaining maximum exposure.
  • Monitor social media for fan feedback and 1:1 engagement opportunities.
  • Assist with conceptualizing, planning, and executing original creative design solutions for all departments of the Tides in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. This includes, but is not limited to; print, digital, signage, sales and marketing collateral, partner-driven events and initiatives, and in-stadium video board graphics.

Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to plan, develop and send appealing, informative, attention-grabbing copy in revenue-generating emails.

  • Assist with maintaining the Norfolk Tides website. This includes continually updating content on home page and all sub-pages while enhancing the look, feel, and functionality of the website.
  • Manage, organize and maintain “best of” shots for players, events, promotions, mascot, etc. for future marketing purposes.
  • Provide support to marketing & promotions, sponsorship and group sales departments as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • An Ideal Candidate Would Have:
  • Digital Media, Social Media, Graphic Design, Communications Arts or related majors preferred. Bachelor Degree or working toward a degree, required
  • Passion for social media and ability to execute a successful social media strategy that aligns with organizational goals
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere and Illustrator)
  • Excellent design skills with a strong focus on typography, layout and visual hierarchy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative and to work independently
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly-motivated team player with a positive attitude, strong customer service skills
  • Must work all Norfolk Tides home games, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Group Sales Representative

Job Description

  • Works closely with the Director of Ticket Sales
  • Sell groups, corporate packages through relationship building
  • Identify and generate new sales opportunities, including following up on inbound leads, prospecting cold calls, and contacting companies and individuals
  • Maintain group renewals
  • Prospecting and developing new client relationships
  • Day-to-day customer support
  • Meet and exceed all weekly and end of year sales goals
  • Assist with setup of hospitality areas in Harbor Park
  • Assist in the supervision of the hospitality areas in Harbor Park
  • Accurately track and provide regular reports detailing sales activities, pipeline status
  • Represent the Norfolk Tides in a positive and professional manner at all times

Qualifications

  • Must work all Norfolk Tides home games
  • Must be able to handle stress and time management in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be detailed oriented, strong communications skills, teamwork, and enthusiasm
  • Must have customer service experience
  • Ability to multitask, be organized, and focus on customer service
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Follow all COVID-19 guidelines and protocols
  • Bachelor Degree required or graduating in May of 2021

Groundskeeper Internship

Groundskeeper Internship for Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Position is a season-long internship from April 15 through September.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Bullpen maintenance
  • General field maintenance
  • Mowing
  • Tarp
  • Batting practice set up
  • Intern expected to work all 70 Tides home games as well as any other non-baseball events on the field.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

An Ideal Candidate Would Have:

Previous Baseball groundskeeping experience (2+ years) or working toward a turf management degree preferred.
