Nats Strand 13 Runners in Wednesday Night Defeat

SPRINGDALE, AR – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (22-31, 51-69) stranded 13 runners and snapped their four-game winning streak, losing to the Frisco RoughRiders (26-27, 65-56) 11-2 on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark. The Naturals continue their six-game set against the RoughRiders on Thursday, with first pitch at 7:05 PM CT.

Frisco got on the board in the opening frame, poured on four runs in the fourth inning and carried an 8-0 lead into the seventh.

Northwest Arkansas plated a pair after the stretch. Colton Becker knocked in Spencer Nivens with a groundout and Connor Scott doubled to bring Daniel Vázquez home. Nivens and Vázquez each got knocks to reach base, extending each of their hitting streaks to eight straight games. Scott’s double made it 8-2, Frisco.

Reliever Frank Mozzicato retired all six batters he faced, but the RoughRiders plated three in the ninth to take an 11-2 advantage. Sam Kulasingam walked to get on in the bottom of the ninth, but the Naturals stranded their 13th runner and fell to snap a four-game winning streak.
