Patteson Tosses Quality Start in Naturals’ 6-3 Rain-Shortened Victory over the Wind Surge

SPRINGDALE, AR – Hunter Patteson spun a quality start and led the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (15-22, 44-60) to a 6-3 rain-shortened win over the Wichita Wind Surge (15-22, 40-64) on Friday night at Arvest Ballpark. The Naturals continue their six-game set against the Wind Surge on Saturday, with first pitch at 6:05 PM CT.

After Wichita scored three in the top of the second inning, the Naturals responded with four in the bottom half to take the lead. Alberto Rodriguez hit a two-run single and Sam Kulasingam connected on an RBI single to give the Nats a one-run advantage.

Northwest Arkansas tacked on two more in the fifth on back-to-back run-scoring singles. Spencer Nivens drove in Colton Becker, followed by Daniel Vázquez bringing home Kulasingam. Patteson (7-4) protected the 6-3 lead by dealing 6.0+ innings for the fourth time this season. The southpaw spun a quality start, issued one walk, struck out four and notched the victory.

Grant Gambrell struck out six batters over two scoreless innings before it started downpouring at Arvest Ballpark. The game was shortened due to rain and the Naturals won, 6-3.

The Naturals face the Wind Surge in the penultimate game of the six-game series on Saturday at 6:05 PM CT. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a Bobby Witt Jr. bobblehead, and fans can enjoy pregame “Happy Hour” specials at the Bullpen Party.
