ROCKHOUNDS WALK OFF ON NATURALS TO SNAP FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK

MIDLAND, TX – Despite another strong start from Drew Parrish, as the left-hander pitched 6.0 scoreless innings, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals could only offer one run of support, as the Midland RockHounds forced extra innings, then walked off in the 10th inning, as the Naturals fell 2-1.

Parrish retired the first 11 batters he faced, including four on strikeouts, and only allowed one hit and one walk across 6.0 scoreless frames, throwing exactly 90 pitches. It was his fourth outing of six innings or more this season, all four being scoreless starts.

Northwest Arkansas was set down eight in a row to begin the game, then finally broke through in the fifth inning, as Ryan Grotjohn drew his first of two walks in the game, then scored on a sacrifice fly from Maikel Garcia.

Right fielder Tucker Bradley went 3-for-4 in the game with a double, stranded on third base to end the fifth inning. The Naturals stranded runners on third base in three of four innings, leaving Robbie Glendinning 90 feet away in the sixth after a one-out double, then they left the bases loaded in the eighth inning.

Stephen Woods Jr. followed Parrish and threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning, but struggled with control in the eighth and walked the first two batters and was relieved by Zach Willeman.

The first of the two walks came around to score, as Willeman loaded the bases and induced a double play ball that scored the tying run. He pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, with a pair of strikeouts to force extras, but the Naturals left two runners on and could not push ahead in the 10th inning.

Zack Phillips got two quick outs in the bottom of the 10th, but a single from Shane Sleman deep into the right-center field gap scored the placed runner, Logan Davidson, as the RockHounds walked off on the Naturals.

Northwest Arkansas will try and get back to .500 on Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT, as Will Klein makes his third start of the year.
