Gameday/Event Positions

The Omaha Storm Chasers and Werner Park offer a variety of part-time jobs throughout the year and we are always looking for friendly, energetic, and hard working employees. As part of the Werner Park gameday and event staff, you provide an unparalleled experience for our fans every time we open up the gates. Please see the list below to explore the different opportunities.

Werner Park has many amusements areas, which include the following: Centris Family Fun Zone, wiffleball field, and basketball court. The Amusements employees are responsible for overseeing these areas during Werner Park events. Amusements employees assist with the setup and teardown of the inflatables, operate the front desk to the Centris Family Fun Zone, handle cash, and supply wristbands to customers, and work in all amusements areas to ensure the safety of the participants. Amusements employees are extremely energetic, interactive, work well with children, and are comfortable handling cash and making change. Amusements employees convey a sense of fun with enthusiasm, while at the same time, using good judgment in the areas of safety and security of participants. Amusements employees must be able to stand for long periods of time and work outside in any type of weather.

Dugout attendants are responsible for retrieving bats and balls and supplying home plate umpires with baseballs throughout the course of the game. Dugout attendants will also be required to help in the set-up and clean-up of dugouts, rubbing mud on game baseballs, retrieving balls during batting practice, and assisting the clubhouse managers in whatever else needs to be done before and after the game. Dugout attendants are attentive, able to follow directions, have a knowledge of the rules of baseball, and have a willingness to work long hours. Dugout attendants must be able to work outside in any type of weather.

Fan Services attendants are responsible for working the Fan Services booth during Werner Park events. Fan Services attendants answer questions, give directions, handle Lost & Found items, and assist fans with any issues or concerns. Fan Services attendants are highly personable, friendly, punctual, and able to solve problems quickly and effectively. Fan Services attendants are responsible for learning and retaining stadium, ticket, and promotional information during the season, and they work closely with the Promo Team. Fan Services attendants must be able to work outside in any type of weather.

The Game Operations team consists of our official scorer, pitch clock operator, and our datacaster. The official scorer is responsible for keeping the official book for the given game and is also responsible for determining which plays are ruled hits, errors, etc. during the course of the game. Pitch clock operators are responsible for keeping the between-inning and between-pitch time, as well as reporting back to MiLB on the pace of the game and any potential infractions. The datacaster or “stringer” is responsible for keeping a pitch-by-pitch account of the game through the MiLB online platform that transmits the data to the MiLB app and website. For all positions, applicants should possess at least a basic understanding of the game of baseball to be able to complete the job-related tasks appropriately.

The Grounds Crew is responsible for maintaining the field of play at Werner Park. The Grounds Crew prepares the field before the game, drags the infield during baseball games, and does repair work after the game. The Grounds Crew must stay alert in inclement weather, and if needed, will help pull the tarp. The Grounds Crew may be expected to assist with special events such as concerts on the field, as well as concert preparation. Grounds Crew members must be able to stand for long periods of time, work outside in any type of weather, and should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Omaha Storm Chasers Mascots are enthusiastic, organized, outgoing, and motivated individuals that provide top quality fun and entertainment. The responsibilities of a Mascot include: performing as one of the Omaha Storm Chasers mascots at home games, special events, or community appearances; distributing Omaha Storm Chasers promotional items (mascot cards, pocket schedules, etc.) to help increase team and brand awareness; and interacting with all fans at games and during off-site appearances. Mascots must be energetic, athletic, have a positive attitude, and have the ability to improvise and interact with fans. Mascots must also feel comfortable in front of large crowds. Mascots must be able to stand for long periods of time and work outside in any type of weather.

The On-Field Host connections fans to all of the fun-filled action at Werner Park. The On-Field Host introduces on-field games, between-inning promotions, and other live drop-ins to help keep fans engaged. The On-Field Host should possess excellent public speaking skills, a friendly and upbeat attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively on the fly.

Parking Lot Attendants are the first employees that patrons interact with when they come to Werner Park. Parking Lot Attendants greet and assist all fans as they arrive. Parking Lot Attendants also must understand the rules and regulations of the parking lot operations. Parking Lot Attendants deliver excellent customer service to each fan and assist in keeping the parking lot area clean. Parking Attendants must be able to work outside in any type of weather, stand for long periods of time, and must be able to count and handle cash. Parking Lot Attendants are highly personable, friendly, punctual, and able to solve problems quickly and effectively.

The Promotions (Promo) Team assists with all promotions. The Promo Team is responsible for welcoming fans as they enter Werner Park and helping select and prepare contestants for participation in promotions. The Promo Team assists with the setup, execution, and breakdown of daily events and/or promotions while making sure all equipment is organized, in good condition, and stored properly after each game. Promo Team members must feel comfortable in front of large crowds, be highly personable, energetic, enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude. Promo Team members must be able to stand for long periods of time, must be able to lift or push at least 25 pounds, and must be able to work outside in any type of weather.

The Public Address Announcer serves as the voice of Werner Park for all Storm Chasers home games. The PA Announcer should possess strong reading and public speaking skills, the ability to follow directions and adapt on the fly, and at least a basic understanding of the rules of baseball.

The primary responsibility of the Storm Front Team Store Associates is greeting and assisting customers in the Storm Front Team Store. The Store Associates also assist with stocking and restocking of merchandise and are responsible for completing checkout transactions on a computerized Point of Sale system. At times, Store Associates may be asked to work independently at a remote location away from the store using a mobile Point of Sale system. Store Associates have excellent customer service skills, are detail oriented, able to identify problems and ask for assistance when necessary, and are comfortable engaging with customers as part of the sales process. They also must be knowledgeable of computers and handling money, able to stand for long periods of time, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ticket Sellers are primarily responsible for the processing of single game ticket sales and distribution of Will Call tickets to patrons of Werner Park. Ticket Sellers must possess superior customer service skills to provide a positive first impression to patrons visiting Werner Park. Ticket Sellers are trained in the use of TicketReturn's computerized ticketing system. In order to provide accurate information to guests in regards to ballpark events and ticketing policies, Ticket Sellers must have strong communication skills. Ticket Sellers must possess quality money handling skills, as they process both cash and credit transactions each game day.

Ticket Takers are the first employees patrons see when they enter the gates of Werner Park. A Ticket Taker's primary responsibility is scanning tickets. While scanning tickets, Ticket Takers greet and interact with patrons entering the ballpark. Ticket Takers must be able to make quick decisions regarding customer service and any issues related to tickets. Ticket Takers are highly personable, energetic, and have strong communication skills. Ticket Takers must be able to work outside in any type of weather and stand for long periods of time.

Ushers work throughout the seating area of Werner Park and are responsible for checking tickets and directing fans to their seats. Ushers engage and interact with fans and must be able to deliver exceptional customer service. Ushers must be able to walk up and down stairs, stand for long periods of time, work outside in any type of weather, and be attentive to the safety of fans at Werner Park. Ushers are also responsible for learning and retaining stadium, ticket, and promotional information during the season. Ushers are highly personable, friendly, punctual, and able to solve problems quickly and effectively.

The Video Production team will produce video content at all home games for the videoboard and in-house closed-circuit televisions. The gameday operation will consist of up to seven cameras, a replay operator, a director, an audio technician, and a videoboard operator. Video Production team members are punctual, enthusiastic, and familiar with cameras and production equipment. Video Production camera operators must be able to stand for long periods of time, must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, and must be able to work outside in any type of weather.

Video Production team members will have the opportunity to work in multiple positions, learning how to operate the majority of the control room. Familiarity with Newtek hardware, Daktronics hardware and software, as well as audio mixing board experience is strongly desired. Video Production team members should also have a strong grasp of the sport in which they are working.

Werner Park Security

An exciting addition to our stadium staff, our security team will provide exceptional security detail as outlined in post orders, and establish working relationships with all of our customers, fans, event personnel, and everything in between! We look forward to continuing the Werner Park tradition of providing safe, family entertainment.

Available Internships

The Gameday Internship at Werner Park is geared towards college students interested in exploring a career in the sports industry. Our interns have the opportunity to work in almost every aspect of gameday and event operations at Werner Park, with the intention of learning as much about our business as possible! Our goal as a staff is to allow our interns to learn and grow, as well as to hopefully discover their own personal passions and goals.
