Chasers Even Series in Tacoma with 5-3 Win

TACOMA, WA (June 13) - Jorge Bonifacio collected his first two RBIs of 2018, and the Storm Chasers defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 5-3 on Thursday night at Cheney Stadium.
Omaha cracked a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the 4th. Rosell Herrera walked, went to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Adalberto Mondesi , and scored on a single by Bonifacio.
Tacoma rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a 1-out walk, Danny Muno knotched an RBI double, and Zach Vinjec singled in Muno. Vincej proceeded to steal 2nd, and scored on a single by Gordon Beckham, putting Tacoma ahead 3-1.
The Storm Chasers immediately responded with 3 of their own in the 6th. Jack Lopez singled, and Rosell Herrera doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. After a pitching change, Adalberto Mondesi plated Lopez with a groundout, Jorge Bonifacio tied the game with a double down the right field line, and with 2 out, Cam Gallagher singled in Bonifacio for a 4-3 Omaha lead.
Ljay Newsome (L, 0-1) worked 5+ innings for Tacoma; he was charged with 3 runs, 3 hits, and 1 walk, with 2 strikeouts.
Heath Fillmyer (W, 4-5) tossed 6 frames for the Storm Chasers. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.
Omaha extended their lead to 5-3 in the top of the 8th. Ryan O'Hearn reached on an error, Frank Schwindel singled O'Hearn to 3rd, and Cam Gallagher put down a safety squeez bunt to score O'Hearn.
Richard Lovelady threw 2 scoreless relief innings, and was assisted by tremendous defensive plays by Mondesi and Logan Moon (who made a leaping catch at the wall to end the bottom of the 8th).
Kevin Lenik (S, 3) pitched the 9th for the save, giving the Chasers a split of the first 2 games of the series.
The Storm Chasers (30-35) will continue the series in Tacoma tomorrow night at 9:05 Central. RHP Josh Staumont (1-1, 1.59) will toss for Omaha, while Tacoma will send RHP Casey Lawrence (4-2, 2.62) to the mound.
