Storm Chasers Fall to Mud Hens 3-1

TOLEDO, OHIO – The Omaha Storm Chasers (22-17/55-58) were held to just 4 baserunners in a 3-1 loss to the Toledo Mud Hens (19-20/53-60) on Sunday afternoon. Brett Squires hit a home run and Jacob Berry went 2-for-3, but it wasn’t enough to propel the offense in the 2-run loss.

Squires opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the 1st inning, then Omaha starter Ryan Ramsey (5-6) worked a scoreless bottom half to keep the Storm Chasers ahead 1-0.

Ramsey then gave up an RBI double and single in the bottom of the 2nd inning to put Toledo ahead 2-1, and the Mud Hens extended the lead to 3-1 with a sac fly in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Neither team scored from that point on, with Omaha’s Ramsey (1.0 IP), Ethan Bosacker (2.0 IP), Connor Thomas (1.0 IP) and Nolan Hoffman (1.0 IP) combining for 5.0 scoreless frames between the 4th and 8th innings, with Ramsey allowing a leadoff single as the only hit in that stretch, and Bosacker firing a perfect 6th inning.

Omaha’s only baserunners past the 3rd inning came on Berry’s 5th-inning one-out double and Squires’ 9th-inning two-out walk, leading to the Storm Chasers’ first loss since the series opener.

The Storm Chasers will take the day off on Monday as they head to Columbus to take on the Clippers for a 6-game series beginning on Tuesday. First pitch of the series opener is set for 6:05 P.M. CT and Vince Velasquez is scheduled to start for Omaha.
