ONTARIO, Calif. — Chase Harlan, the Ontario Tower Buzzers’ third baseman, has been named the California League Position Player of the Month award for May.

Harlan,19, hit .388 with a .481 on-base percentage and a 694 slugging percentage. He led the entire league in both batting average and slugging for May. On top of that, he finished second in on-base percentage, OPS (1.175), and triples (3), plus fourth in total bases (59), and fifth in hits (33).

He was the engine behind the Buzzers’ offense this May. Harlan notched nine multi-hit games, coming through for the team constantly. One of his highlights came on May 16, when he tallied four hits in a single game against San Jose, the first time he’s done that as a pro.

His consistency was evident from start to finish. He opened the month with a nine-game hitting streak, and just for good measure, closed May on an eight-game streak.

Harlan came into pro ball after the Dodgers selected him in the third round of the 2024 MLB Draft, straight out of Central Bucks East High School in Pennsylvania. Even as one of the youngest guys playing every day in the California League, manager John Shoemaker has been impressed with him day in and day out.

"Overall, Chase has had an excellent season so far, with obviously a great month of May that has really showcased his abilities." Shoemaker said. "I couldn’t be happier for him, as he has earned this success through hard work and consistency. It feels perfect to see him reach this level, and I’m excited about what he can continue to contribute moving forward."

Picking up this monthly honor marks a big moment in a great rookie season for Harlan, who’s already become a mainstay in the lineup for the Dodgers’ Single-A club.
