In their first knock out round of 2021, the Billings Mustangs (8-11) defeat the Missoula PaddleHeads (16-3). Chris Salvey defeated Aaron Bond 1-0 in the first knock out round to hand Billings the victory.

The Mustangs once again led early and opened up the scoring first. Jesus Azuaje started the third inning with a single and came around to score on an error to give the Stangs a 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Mustangs offense erupted for four runs on four hits. Chris Eusay highlighted the inning with a three-run home run over the left field fence to give the Mustangs a 5-0 advantage.

Missoula would bounce right back with two runs in each the fourth and the fifth inning. Trevin Esquerra doubled a ball to deep center to score two in the fourth. Aaron Bond solo-home run and a Sam Troyer single plated two in the fifth.

Missoula took their first lead of the game in the seventh with a two-RBI double by Troyer. Paddleheads led 6-5 heading into the eighth inning.

With two outs in the inning, Liam Sabino doubled to left center. The next batter Caedan Harris delivered a clutch single that squeezed through the hole on the right side to score Sabino to tie the game at six.

Colin Kelly fired a scoreless ninth and we advanced to the home run knock out round where the Mustangs delivered their eighth victory of the season.

Cody Hacker fired three innings of scoreless baseball in his third start. He allowed just one hit and struck out one as well.
