WORCESTER, MA -- With seven months to go until the April, 2021 scheduled opening of Polar Park in the city’s resurgent Canal District, the Worcester Red Sox today released the seating manifest, which details the sections, rows, and seats—as well as the ballpark’s initial capacity. Including seats, berms, and standing room, the capacity for baseball at the year-round park at its opening will be 9,508, a tip of the cap to the 508 area code in much of Central Massachusetts.

“As Larry Lucchino has said so many times, this ballpark will look and feel and smell and taste like Worcester,” said WooSox President Dr. Charles Steinberg. “Some touches are obvious, such as the Heart-Shaped Light Towers and the Smiley Faces on the Foul Poles. The initial capacity, however, at 9,508, is simply a subtle wink and a nod to the residents of the region.”

Sections, rows, and seats in the seating bowl will all be numbered. Section numbers begin in the seating bowl on the Third Base side with Section 1, and rotate counter-clockwise (the same direction as baserunners) around to the First Base side, ending at Section 16. Beyond the seating bowl, fans overlooking the WooSox Bullpen presented by Shaw’s, adjacent to the First Base Field Boxes, will be in the WooSox Bullpen Terrace presented by Shaw’s (Section 17). Adjacent to the terrace, a little further down the right field line, is another elevated open space (Section 18) from which to watch both the game and WooSox pitchers warming up in the bullpen.

Rows will also be numbered, starting with Row 1 being closest to the field. The number of rows in a section varies, as does the number of seats in a row.

Seat numbers start at 1 on the left side of each section when viewed from the concourse.

“The goal is clarity,” said Lucchino, the club’s Chairman and Principal Owner. “We are all fans, and we know how frustrating it can be in some venues when your seat location is not intuitive. We know what a relief it is to know that the sections are in numerical order, the rows are numbered in ascending order starting at the field, and the seats consistently start with Seat 1 on the left edge of a section.”

As fans walk down the aisle from the concourse, the aisle seat on the left is the last seat of the row in that section, and the aisle seat on the right is Seat 1 of the row in the next section.

Dugout Seats, DCU Club Seats, and Home Plate Field Boxes all have wider seats and wait service. All seating categories have ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) seating, including a dozen down at the field in the Dugout Seats category. Dugout Seats feature location desirability, even wider seats (21”) with padding, and wait service at your seat.

Also right down on the field is a “Fan Dugout,” called the “Big Blue Bug Batter’s Box.” This special space near the WooSox Dugout is available for group outings of up to 20 fans.

Atop the Worcester Wall in right field, sections are numbered in triple digits, starting with 101 at the Foul Pole and continuing counterclockwise to 105. They continue through the FLEXcon Porch in right-centerfield (Sections 106 and 107), which can seat 42 and accommodate 114 (including standing room). Seating continues across the two outfield berms in centerfield (108) and left field (109).

Completing the circle and coming back down the Left Field line, just before the Third Base Reserves begin again at Section 1, fans can hover over the Visitors Bullpen presented by Shaw’s in the Visitors’ Bullpen Terrace presented by Shaw’s—which will be called Section 0!

On the upper level, in the exceptional DCU Club behind home plate, sections start with 201 on the Third Base side of home and end at 207 on the First Base side of the plate. Also on that level, Private Suites start at 1 on the Third Base side and continue to 22 on the First Base side. Group Areas on that level include the Hanover Deck (Section 200), featuring sunset views on the Third Base side, and the Rodenhiser Party Bridge (Section 208), which connects the suites to the Right Field Party Deck (Section 209) on the First Base side.

“We have worked with our partners, the City of Worcester leadership, to design and construct an intimate, compact, innovative urban ballpark that this city can be proud of,” Lucchino said, “And this important part of the design brings us one giant step closer to its completion. Best of all, the activity at Polar Park now becomes participatory, as season ticket holders can soon select the precise location from which their families can watch future Red Sox stars for generations to come.”

PawSox Season Ticket Holders have priority in the selection of Season Tickets, followed by various tiers of the Worcester Red Sox Booster Club. The Hall of Fame level selects first, followed by the All-Stars, the Lead-Off Hitters, and the Teammates, which is a free level of membership open to everyone. Fans can join the Booster Club at gowoosox.com.

The WooSox introduced “Early Bird Pricing” for season tickets on August 17, 2019. That special pricing will expire on December 31, 2020.

Marginal changes may occur in the process of seat installation, so the illustrations below and attached provide only the current state of design and create no contractual rights.

Finally, this manifest describes the intended seating in a post-COVID-19 environment. If seating availability needs to be adjusted due to the pandemic, a modified plan will be announced in the future.
