Visalia, CA – Rancho Cucamonga won their third straight game to open their 12-game road trip, hanging on for a 9-4 win over the Visalia Rawhide at Valley Strong Ballpark.

Alex DeJesus had three hits and drove in two runs, while Hyun-Il Choi gave the Quakes 5.1 solid innings in earning the victory.

Rancho also ripped three home runs in the victory, as Eddys Leonard (13), Ismael Alcantara (5) and newcomer Jose Ramos (1) all went deep.

Leonard’s blast came in the first, as the Quakes spotted Jimmy Lewis an early 1-0 lead.

The Rawhide answered quickly though, tallying two in the first off the Quakes’ starter to take a 2-1 lead after just an inning.

Rancho got it going again in the third though, taking the lead for good by scoring four times for a 5-2 lead against Rawhide starter Junior Mieses (2-5). Ramos, who was called up to take the place of newly-promoted outfielder Jonny DeLuca, tied the game at 2-2 with his first home run in a Rancho uniform. Leonard put the Quakes ahead with an RBI hit, then later scored as part of a two-run double by DeJesus.

Choi (8-3) allowed a pair of solo-shots, but was otherwise locked in over his 5.1 innings, striking out five without walking a single batter.

Leading 5-3 in the eighth, Alcantara gave the Quakes some cushion with a solo homer, but Visalia answered with their second home run of the game, making it a two-run game again.

The Quakes put it away in the ninth, scoring three times to round out the scoring at 9-4.

Carlos Alejo recorded the final five outs without allowing a hit, earning his third save in the process.

The Quakes are now 37-31 and continue to lead the South Division. Braydon Fisher will get the nod in Friday’s game four, as he’ll be opposed by Visalia’s Marcos Tineo (1-3) at 6:00pm.
