Lake Elsinore, CA – The Quakes returned to action on Friday night, winning their first game after a four-day break with a 5-1 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm.

Mairo Martinus had three of Rancho’s 12 hits and drove in three runs, helping the Quakes snap a five-game skid and win their first game of the year at the Lake Elsinore Diamond.

The game saw some good pitching through the first several innings, as neither starter allowed a run.

After Aidan Foeller gave Rancho four innings of scoreless work, Jhonny Jimenez (2-1) followed with two innings of hitless, scoreless relief.

The Quakes broke a scoreless tie in the sixth, when Jose Meza doubled home Samuel Munoz against Bernard Jose (0-2), then scored on an RBI hit from Martinus. Martinus would later score on a wild pitch, making it a 3-0 game.

Leading 3-1 in the ninth, Martinus struck again, singling home a pair of runs off Adam Conrad to round out the scoring at 5-1.

Connor Godwin struck out the side in the ninth in a non-save situation, closing out Rancho’s ninth win over Lake Elsinore in ten chances this year.
