Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes dropped their third straight contest overall, as the Inland Empire 66ers took a 10-6 decision at LoanMart Field on Thursday night, knocking the Quakes out of first place in the South Division.

Edwin Yon, who knocked in a career-high nine runs on Wednesday, had another big day, going 4-for-5 with a crucial two-run single that opened things up in the ninth inning, after the Quakes had scored the game’s last five runs to make it a one-run game.

Inland Empire got after Quakes’ starter Robbie Peto early, as Peto (0-3) didn’t make it out of the first inning, allowing three runs in just two-thirds of an inning for an early 3-0 lead for the 66ers.

Inland Empire built a 7-1 lead before Rancho began to rally. The Quakes scored two in the sixth against Inland starter Jose Salvador (5-2) and then dropped three more in the seventh to make it a 7-6 game.

But the Sixers tallied three runs in the ninth, as Yon’s two-run single off Jose Hernandez made it 9-6. The 66ers got one more run before turning it over to Emilker Guzman, who worked a 1-2-3 ninth in a non-save situation.

Rancho had just eight hits on the night, getting outhit 15-8. Jonny DeLuca was the only Quake with more than one hit, as he went 2-for-5. Eddys Leonard had a hit to extend his personal streak to 11 straight games.

The Quakes (32-30) now find themselves a game back of the 66ers (33-29) in the South Division. On Friday, Jimmy Lewis (0-2) will take on Inland Empire lefty Adam Seminaris (2-3) in game four of the six-game set.
