August 5, 2015

SPOKANE -- The Ogden Raptors and the city of Ogden will host the 2016 Northwest/Pioneer League All-Star game, subject to approval, the Pioneer League announced.

"Ogden is proud to host the game and looks forward to showing our friends from the Northwest League the best Lindquist Field and Ogden have to offer," said Ogden Raptors president Dave Baggott. "It will be a big project for us but we will be excited and ready for the game.

The Northwest and Pioneer Leagues met in the inaugural All-Star game on Tuesday night in Spokane, Washington, with the Northwest League winning 6-5 in 10 innings. The two leagues will alternate hosting the event each year with the NWL's Spokane Indians hosting the 2015 game. The Ogden Raptors will be the first PBL host in 2016.

Built in 1997 and renovated in 2008 to a current capacity of 7,000, Lindquist Field is the largest ballpark in the Pioneer League. The Ogden Raptors have led the league in attendance in each of the 18 seasons since Lindquist Field opened its gates. Through 23 home games in 2015, Ogden is again leading the Pioneer League in attendance, averaging over 3,300 fans per game.

Ogden, the county seat of Weber County, is located 40 miles north of Salt Lake City. With a population of more than 80,000, it is the seventh-largest city in the state of Utah. The Ogden-Clearfield metropolitan area is the second-largest in the state (behind Salt Lake City) with nearly 550,000 residents.

The 2016 Northwest/Pioneer League All-Star Game is set to be played August 2nd, at 7 PM Mountain Time. Vouchers are on sale now, and, if you buy before June 1st, you'll also get 4 free tickets per voucher to games after the All-Star Game, when we'll be getting in prime position for the post-season!
