Raptors Split Games, Still Gain on Rockies.

In the middle of a playoff race, Ogden picked a bad time to end a home non-shutout streak of over two years. 

The Raptors got terrific pitching all night, but only got terrific hitting for half the night, giving them a win and a loss in their double header against the Idaho Falls Chukars. 

Game 1: Chukars 3, Raptors 0 

In game one, DJ Peters went 3-3 and Keibert Ruiz got a hit to extend his hit streak to 11 games, but the offense provided no run support for starter Jairo Pacheco. 

Pacheco (1-5) played in Ogden all of 2015, but struggled earlier this season and was sent to the Arizona league for development. This was his first outing in Ogden since July 30, and it was one of his best, giving up a run in 5.2 innings. But he got saddled with the tough luck loss.  

He gave up the lone run on a RBI double by Joe Dudek, who is hitting .476 with a homer and six RBI in 21 at bats against Raptor pitching in this home and home series. He upped his batting average from .315 coming into the series to .368 after game one tonight, before finally going 0-3 in game two. 

This was the first time the Raptors have been shut out since July 24, 2015, when they were blanked in Grand Junction. It was the first shutout at home since July 16, 2014, against Great Falls. 

Game 2: Chukars 1, Ogden 7

The Raptors almost blanked the Chukars in game two, which would have been a first this season. But Nick Heath singled in Meibrys Viloria in the seventh to avoid the zero. 

By then the game was in hand, thanks to precision pitching by "The Robot," Sven Schuller. The German made his first start as a Raptor, and he made the most of it, throwing 5 scoreless innings on two hits. Osiris Ramirez, who was called up from the Arizona league yesterday, made his first appearance, giving up a run in two innings. 

DJ Peters went 3-3 again, making him a perfect 6-6 on the night. And he did it with his father and brother watching. They arrived last night in time to see his game-winning, 481 foot home run. Peters raised his batting average from .336 to .353 in one night. He has reached base in 59 of 61 games this year and is second in the league in on base percentage. 

Keibert Ruiz had two hits to run his hit streak to 12 games and his average to .341. 

Jordan Paroubeck went 2-3 with a home run. Recently off the disabled list, he's 7 for his last 11. He's raised his average to .229. 

First round pick Gavin Lux, the Kenosha Kid, has played four games with Ogden and is hitting .462. 

The Raptors actually picked up a half game on the Rockies tonight, because Grand Junction lost to Orem. Ogden is now a half game back with five to play, including the final four game series between the two teams in Grand Junction, starting Monday. 

Ogden finishes up its series with Idaho Falls tomorrow night with Zac Grotz (3-0) on the mound.
