Flying Squirrels Unveil Eastern League All-Star Week Presented by Genworth

Funnville - The Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have unveiled an action-packed itinerary of events for 2019 Eastern League All-Star Week presented by Genworth. The All-Star Week festivities begin Sunday, July 7 with Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney's Kickoff at Brown's Island and concludes with the 2019 Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 10. The four-day whirlwind also includes a special All-Star Country Music Jam at Richmond Raceway and a unique Celebrity Home Run Derby, featuring an on-field cocktail party DURING the event. Tickets for All-Star Week presented by Genworth go on sale to the general public on December 1, 2018. A full rundown of event details can be found below.

The 2019 Eastern League All-Star Week is the first All-Star contest at The Diamond since 1992. All-Star Week Merchandise is now available in the Retro Brand Team Store at The Diamond. Additionally, the Flying Squirrels will be celebrating their 10th anniversary season in 2019.

Sunday, July 7: Mayor Levar Stoney's All-Star Week Kickoff on Brown's Island
The Richmond community and the Flying Squirrels welcome in the 2019 Eastern League All-Stars, baseball dignitaries, guests and fans to Brown's Island for this kickoff event featuring live music, entertainment and delicious selections from Richmond's nationally recognized food and beverage scene. The entire Richmond region is encouraged to attend this free event.
Monday, July 8: All-Star Country Music Jam at Virginia Credit Union Live at Richmond Raceway
Join the Flying Squirrels and the All-Star Week entourage for a special night of music at Virginia Credit Union Live at Richmond Raceway. The Flying Squirrels will be announcing a nationally-renowned musical guest to headline the event soon.
Tuesday, July 9: Eastern League Celebrity Home Run Derby & Funnville Fan Fest
No All-Star event is complete without a home run derby and the Flying Squirrels are going all-out for 2019. This unique event features celebrities paired with All-Stars in a series of home run and hitting challenges. Fans can enjoy a once-in-a lifetime VIP on-field experience during the contest! Live DJ and post-derby concert and fireworks cap off the night!
Wednesday, July 10: 2019 Eastern League All-Star Game
The first All-Star Game in Richmond since 1992 will be hosted at The Diamond on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. The Mid-Summer Classic includes some of Major League Baseball's brightest stars of tomorrow. The Eastern and Western division rivals will also be led by a celebrity manager in each dugout. Fireworks follow the game.

The Flying Squirrels are excited to leverage All-Star Week presented by Genworth as a spotlight for the entire Richmond region. In addition to the litany of events, the team will be providing Eastern League members and officials with an in-depth Richmond experience in conjunction with ChamberRVA, Richmond Region Tourism and local businesses. Visiting team members, club staff and other All-Star Week partners will be provided with a variety of "excursions" offered throughout the week. These excursions are designed to showcase the vibrant Richmond landscape and thriving businesses community. A few excursion options provided to guests include visits to King's Dominion, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Black History Museum.
