RVA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, in conjunction with Puritan Cleaners will host the annual Coats For Kids Ballpark Warming Party on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at The Diamond. Fans are encouraged to bring in and donate gently used coats for children in need this winter. Coats collected at the event are spiffed up by Puritan Cleaners and given to the Salvation Army. This free event is open to all ages and features live music, chili and prizes for those who donate coats. This year's event will also feature the "sliming" of Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell to commemorate his participation in the American Cancer Society's "Real Men Wear Pink Campaign." Parney has raised over $4,200 for the cause and will celebrate the achievement by being doused with a bucket of "pink slime.

"Since our first year in 2010, we have done many crazy, but funn things that simultaneously better our community in some way. Getting 'pink slimed' on Saturday for Real Men Wear Pink and the American Cancer Society will be at the top of that list," said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "I always try to make my mom proud, and in this case, since she is a cancer survivor, I think I will finally hit the jackpot after 51 years of trying."

Parney is currently in the running for first place on the Real Men Wear Pink leaderboard. Fans can donate to Parney's Real Men Wear Pink Campaign by going to the website here. Donations to the campaign will be accepted through Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Puritan Cleaners collects coats of all sizes every November during the annual Coats For Kids campaign. Puritan averages over 15,000 coats collected every year. They wash and repair them and then deliver to the Salvation Army for distribution to Central Virginia's needy families. With nearly 400,000 coats collected over the years, Puritan couldn't be more proud of their partnership with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, their generous customers and outstanding staff.

Real Men Wear Pink was born out of a desire for men to have a unique way to help in the fight against breast cancer. Real Men Wear Pink gives communities the opportunity to nominate local male leaders to spearhead fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society's breast cancer initiatives.

These initiatives include promoting early detection and prevention, funding groundbreaking research, and giving patients support wherever and whenever they need it. Because of the passion of supporters like you, Real Men Wear Pink is helping to save more lives from breast cancer.

The Flying Squirrels operate at The Diamond year-round. The 2018 season of affordable family funn begins on Friday, April 13. Season tickets, mini plans and group ticket packages are still by contacting the Flying Squirrels box office at 804-359-FUNN (3866).
