Burgamy's Blasts Boost B-Mets in Blowout, 12-6

AKRON, OH - Brian Burgamy launched a pair of three-run homers to lead the Binghamton Mets past the Akron RubberDucks in a 12-6 victory on Wednesday night at Canal Park. Burgamy set a team season-high with seven RBI to push the B-Mets to their third straight victory.

Binghamton wasted little time to get on the board against Akron starter Toru Murata. Kyle Johnson and Brian Burgamy opened the game with back-to-back singles. After a free pass to Kevin Plawecki filled the bases, Matt Clark worked out a walk to force in the B-Mets first run.

Akron countered against Matt Bowman in the bottom of the first inning. Following a leadoff double by Tyler Naquin and a walk by Francisco Lindor, Major League rehabber Nick Swisher lined a two-run double to left field.

The B-Mets took the lead back in their next turn at the plate. Rylan Sandoval and Johnson started the rally with consecutive hits. With two aboard, Burgamy blasted the first pitch he saw over the right field wall, giving the B-Mets a 4-2 lead.

After allowing nine of the first 13 batters he faced to reach, Murata settled down. The righty retired eleven of the next 12 men Binghamton sent to the plate. His run came to an end when he hit Xorge Carrillo and surrendered a single to Sandoval in the sixth.

Reliever Enosil Tejeda took over and struck out Johnson before facing Burgamy with two outs. The B-Mets second baseman struck again, blasting an 0-1 pitch over the right-center wall, securing his second multiple-home run game of the season and kicking Binghamton's advantage to five runs.

Bowman battled back after his rocky first inning. The righty stepped around two walks in a scoreless second and avoided harm after allowing two singles in the third. From the third to the seventh, Bowman put down 13 of 15 batters.

His last challenge came in the seventh when he surrendered a pair of two-out singles. Bowman ended the threat and capped his night by striking out Alex Lavisky, preserving Binghamton's five-run lead.

The B-Mets stretched their lead to nine runs by crossing home four times against reliever Louis Head. Burgamy capped his seven-RBI night with a bases-loaded walk and Clark highlighted the inning with an RBI double off the center field wall. Travis Taijeron capped Binghamton's big offensive game with a solo homer in the ninth.

Bowman (4-4) matched a season-best with his seven-inning effort and claimed his first victory since April 26, snapping a seven-game winless streak to claim the victory. Murata (4-2) allowed six runs on seven hits and walked four in the losing effort.
