SALEM, VA – The Red Sox bring timely hitting and steady pitching to their fourth straight victory. The Salem Red Sox (40-29) win the first three games of the series over the Fredericksburg Nationals (22-47).

The Sox loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning with no one out leading to their first run of the game. Stephen Scott lofted a deep fly ball to center field scoring Nick Yorke. The Nationals equalizer came in the top of the second from Kevin Strohschein on his seventh home run of the season.

In the bottom half of the second inning the Red Sox plated their second run of the game on an error up the middle by Viandel Pena. Nick Northcut came home to score and gave Salem the 2-1 advantage.

The Red Sox wouldn’t look back as they tacked on one more from a Nick Northcut sacrifice fly to center field scoring Stephen Scott. The Nationals knocked in another in the top of the sixth on a Geraldi Diaz RBI double to right field, but that would be all they would get as Casey Cobb secured his second save of the season and the Red Sox won 3-2.
