SALEM, VA – The Red Sox put a halt to their two game losing skid and defeated the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 4-1. The Red Sox (12-9) dominant pitching and timely hitting propelled them over the Pelicans (10-11).

Myrtle Beach struck in the top of the third inning on a line drive single off the bat of Flemin Bautista scoring Edmond Americaan to put the Pelicans up 1-0.

It wasn’t long after the Red Sox evened the score at 1-1 when Matthew Lugo shot one off the glove of Reivaj Garcia at the hot corner scoring Alex Erro. Two productive RBI groundouts gave the Red Sox the 3-1 advantage. They secured an insurance run after Joe Davis blasted his second home run of the season over the right field wall. He is the only Red Sox player to homer at Salem Memorial Ballpark.

With tonight’s victory, the Red Sox pull within three and a half games of the Delmarva Shorebirds in first place.
