SALEM, VA – Behind Salem hurlers Jorge Rodriguez, Ryan Fernandez, and Devon Roedahl, the Red Sox down the Fredericksburg Nationals. For the second time this season, the Red Sox (42-30) win five of six against the Nationals (23-49).

Both pitchers delivered a strong four innings with no offensive cushion. Jorge Rodriguez delivered five strong winning his fifth game in a Salem uniform. It looked like Michael Cuevas would provide a similar story through five, but Ceddanne Rafaela had other ideas.

With two outs in the home half of the fifth, Cuevas put the nine hitter Angel Maita on with his lone walk of the game. This free pass would hurt the righty Nationals’ starter as Ceddanne Rafaela blasted his fourth homer, second in the last two games, over the left field wall to break the scoreless bout.

With the Red Sox two run cushion at their back, Salem relievers did their job. Ryan Fernandez worked yet another scoreless three innings surrendering only one hit while striking out three. Devon Roedahl secured his sixth save of the season finishing out the scoreless ninth and striking out one.

The Red Sox added one more run on a Gilberto Jimenez sacrifice fly to right field. The Red Sox secure their sixth shutout victory of the season and take five of six from the Nationals.
