Scott Van Slyke hit a two-out, two-run ninth inning home run to propel the visiting New Orleans Baby Cakes to a 6-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Monday night.

For a second consecutive night the Bees held a lead in the ninth inning only to see New Orleans come back to win it. Jake Jewell retired the first two batters of the ninth before Isaac Galloway worked a full count walk and then Slyke took a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall to turn the Baby Cake deficit into a lead. Salt Lake would go down in order in the ninth despite hard hit balls from David Fletcher and Matt Thaiss.
Thaiss finished 4-for-5 with two doubles to raise his batting average to .338 with the Bees. David Fletcher led off the game for Salt Lake with a single to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. On the mound Jose Suarez turned in his finest outing as a Bee posting four and two-thirds scoreless frames with three strikeouts.
The Bees have Tuesday off before taking off on a seven-game road trip to Oklahoma City and Colorado Springs. Salt Lake returns to Smith's Ballpark on Thursday, June 21 for a four-game weekend series with the Tacoma Rainiers.
