Luis Pena threw six strong innings to help lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 7-4 win over the Sacramento River Cats on Friday night.

Pena (2-2) retired the first thirteen batters he faced before surrendering a solo home run to Ryder Jones. In his six innings, Pena allowed just one run on one hit with four strikeouts and one walk in what was just the third quality start for a Salt Lake pitcher this season. Ryan Clark worked a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season. When Pena gave up the homer to Jones, Salt Lake already enjoyed a 7-0 lead. The Bees grabbed a 4-0 lead in the third, as Ben Revere doubled, moved to third on a single by Joe Hudson and Eric Young, Jr. walked to load the bases with no outs. Luis Rengifo followed with a single to right that brought home Revere and Hudson.
Salt Lake added three more in the fourth inning on a run scoring fielder's choice by Rengifo and back to back RBI singles by Matt Thaiss and Taylor Ward. Rengifo, who was playing in just his second Triple-A game after being promoted yesterday from Double-A Mobile, had one hits and three runs batted in. Walsh, who was making his first Triple-A start, added two hits and two RBI. Dustin Ackley and Revere chipped in with two hits each. Revere extended his hitting streak to seven games. With the victory, the Bees have now won two consecutive games for the first time since June 19th and 21st.
