SAN ANTONIO – Following a one-hour weather delay, the Missions and RoughRiders got underway at 8:10 p.m. instead of the expected 7:05 p.m. start time. The Missions offense struggled and recorded just two hits against the Frisco pitching staff. However, the club did bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth inning. The comeback fell short and Frisco claimed a 3-0 victory.

Fernando Tatis Jr. continued his rehab assignment and made his fourth appearance with the Missions. Batting leadoff against Tim Brennan, the superstar struck out swinging in his first at-bat of the night.

Ben Krauth was the starting pitcher for the Missions. Frisco threatened to score in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs in the inning, Blaine Crim drew a walk and Justin Foscue hit a single to advance Crim to third base. Kellen Strahm hit a ground ball up the middle and Tatis Jr. made a sliding play to record the force out at second base.

The top of the third inning saw Tatis get his second at-bat of the night. With no one on and two outs, a slider from Brennan hit Tatis in the left elbow. He stayed in the game but was left stranded after Tirso Ornelas grounded out.

Frisco scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Jonathan Ornelas began the inning with a base hit to right field. Crim reached base on a fielding error from Yorman Rodriguez and Ornelas advanced to third base. Foscue drove in Ornelas with a single to right field. Frisco took a 1-0 lead.

The RoughRiders added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out in the inning, Crim doubled and Foscue reached base on an infield single. On the play, Tatis Jr. Threw the ball away at first base and his throwing error allowed both runners to advance into scoring position. Kellen Strahm drove in both runners with a double to right field. Frisco improved their lead to 3-0.

The top of the sixth inning saw Tatis take his third and final at-bat of the game. With one out in the inning, he grounded out to second base.

Brennan put together one of the strongest performances of his professional career on Wednesday night. In six innings, he allowed one base hit and struck out three batters. Rodriguez’s base hit in the fourth inning was the lone hit given up by Brennan. He was replaced by Matt Wivinis in the top of the seventh inning.

The Missions had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning. Facing Grant Anderson, Ornelas recorded the second hit of the game for San Antonio. After recording the second out of the inning, Anderson hit Webster Rivas with a pitch to place two runners on base. Juan Fernandez stepped up to the plate representing the tying run. He flew out to left field to end the game.
