Missions Comeback Effort Ends in a Walk-Off Loss

SAN ANTONIO – After trailing for most of the game, the Missions fought back to tie the game before the ninth inning. On the second pitch of the inning, Frisco hit a walk-off home run to defeat San Antonio 6-5.

It was an early pitcher’s duel between Reiss Knehr and Ronny Henriquez at Riders Field. The Missions were held without a hit until the fifth inning. Frisco was held scoreless until the fourth inning.

The RoughRiders jumped on Knehr for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. After a double and a single, Steele Walker connected on a three-run home run to give them a 3-0 lead.

The Missions fought back with two runs of their own in the fifth inning. Kyle Overstreet and Jack Suwinski started the inning with back-to-back singles. Allen Cordoba drove in a run with a ground out. After stealing second, Cordoba scored on an RBI single from Michael Curry.

Frisco improved their lead in the fifth inning with two more runs. Knehr allowed a double and a single at the beginning of the inning. J.P. Martinez drove in a run on a ground out. The second run scored on an RBI single from Walker. He finished the night with four RBI.

San Antonio continued their comeback effort and tied the game after scoring two in the seventh inning and one in the eighth. Back-to-back walks started the inning for the Missions. Eguy Rosario scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. After a base hit, the second run scored on a passed ball.

In the eighth inning, Chandler Seagle reached on an error. With two outs in the inning, CJ Abrams tied the game with an RBI double.

Nick Kuzia came on to pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Missions. On the second pitch of the inning, Anderson Tejeda hit a walk-off home run to seal the deal for Frisco.

The Missions continue their six-game series against Frisco on Saturday, June 26th. Right-hander Reggie Lawson (0-2, 9.00) will start for the Missions against right-hander Cole Winn (2-3, 2.56). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
