Missions Seeking Director of Merchandise

The Director of Merchandise will work closely with the senior management team to develop new, unique retail concepts. The director will play a major role in branding unique retail concepts, working with design teams to create exciting retail experiences, make merchandise planograms, and coordinate pre-opening operations planning, buying, merchandising, hiring of store employees. The role will be responsible for product selection, market research, retail marketing activities, inventory management, replenishment of permanent products, and sales forecasting. The director should stay abreast of seasonal events and promote online sales to produce revenue during the off-season. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in and be able to perform the following functions:

-Interview, hire and train team store staff to high expectations

-Responsible for selecting merchandise, negotiating orders, and managing team store staff
-Evaluates stock levels to establish action plan; generates reorders and initiates stock balancing
-Demonstrates fiscal responsibility
-Provides on-going analysis of key business initiatives
-Develops strong partnerships with vendors
-Shops the market to identify opportunities and trends
-Provides product and selling skills training to store level staff
-Prepares detailed sales reports and projections based on history, current trends and market forecasts
-Responsible for managing online sales through MiLB website
-Performs inventory on a monthly basis

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
-4+ years preferred of merchandising and buying experience, including relevant experience in initiating concepts and ideas
-Experience in purchasing merchandise/apparel and inventory control
-Familiarity with analyzing and understanding market trends
-Negotiation, analytical, and planning/organization skills
-Ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization
-Proven interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm under pressure
-Computer skills (MS Office, Excel and merchandise-related systems)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $36,000 /year

Experience:

-Merchandising: 4 years (Preferred)
