SAN ANTONIO – In front of a sellout crowd Saturday night, the Missions looked to end their two-game losing skid against the Wind Surge. Fernando Tatis Jr. joined the team as he began his rehab assignment. The Missions trailed early after allowing three runs in the first inning. The offense was not able to recover and Wichita claimed its third straight victory. Final score was 5-1.

Reggie Lawson was the starting pitcher for the San Antonio Missions. His recent stretch of tough outings continued on Saturday night as he allowed three runs on three hits in the top of the first inning. With one out in the inning, Yunior Severino hit a single and Jair Camargo drew a walk. Chris Williams drove in Severino with a double to left field. Andrew Bechtold drove in the other two runs with a single into center field. The Missions trailed 3-0.

Fernando Tatis Jr. batted leadoff for the Missions and started as the designated hitter. Saturday’s game marked the beginning of his rehab assignment. He drew a four-pitch walk in the bottom of the first inning. He ended up at second base after Tirso Ornelas singled to left field. Both runners were left stranded following a strikeout and a double play.

For the third consecutive outing, Lawson failed to make it out of the second inning. After giving up a leadoff single, Edouard Julien grounded into a double play. He walked the next three batters to load the bases. Following his third walk of the inning, he was replaced on the mound by Felix Minjarez. He struck out Bechtold to leave the bases loaded.

Wichita added an insurance run in the top of the third inning. With two outs in the inning, Ernie Yake hit a double to left-center field. Leobaldo Cabrera drove in Yake with a double of his own. The Wind Surge improved their lead to 4-0.

In his second at-bat, Tatis Jr. drew another walk as Enlow threw four consecutive pitches out of the zone.

Blayne Enlow was the starting pitcher for the Wind Surge. He made it through the first three innings while allowing just one hit. The Missions ended the shutout and scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Yorman Rodriguez and Webster Rivas hit back-to-back singles to start the inning. Jack Stronach drove in Rodriguez with a base hit to center field. The Missions trailed 4-1.

Enlow was replaced by Cody Lawyerson in the bottom of the fifth inning. After striking out Chandler Seagle, Tatis Jr. stepped up to the plate for his third at-bat. He struck out swinging for the second out of the inning.

The Missions defense helped keep Wichita off the board in the top of the sixth inning. With Lake Bachar on the mound, Yake hit a single and Julien hit a single. The Wind Surge had runners on the corners with one out. Severino grounded into a double play to end the scoring threat.

Wichita added their fifth run of the game in the top of the seventh inning. Mason Fox entered the game to replace Lake Bachar. On a 1-1 count, Jair Camargo hit an opposite-field home run ro right-center field. His fourth long-ball of the season made it a 5-1 Wichita lead.
