Martinez Doubles Home a Run on Tuesday

The SeaWolves struggled to get the bats going on Tuesday night in Bowie as they fell to the Baysox 11-1 at Prince George's Stadium.

The Baysox jumped on Erie starter Warwick Saupold in the bottom of the first inning. Buck Britton led off and on the first pitch of the at bat, homered to right making it 1-0. Niuman Romero followed with a single and moved into scoring position on a Christian Walker knock. Romero scored on an fielder's choice off the bat of Ronald Bermudez making it 2-0.

Bowie extended its lead in the third when Chih-Hsien Chiang lifted a solo home run off of Saupold with one out making it 3-0. With two outs, Michael Ohlman doubled and K.D. Kang homered to right for a 5-0 lead.

The Baysox would then take a commanding lead in the fourth. Johnny Ruettiger, Britton and Romero each singled, loading the bases for Walker. Walker worked a 3-2 count and connected on a grand slam to left for a 9-0 lead.

The lone Erie run came in the top of the fifth off of Bowie starter Tim Berry. Ramon Cabrera singled up the middle and moved to second in a wild pitch. With one out, Francisco Martinez doubled home Cabrera from second making it 9-1. The 'Wolves would get no closer.

Erie relievers Kenny Faulk and Pat McCoy each tossed two scoreless frames, however, Ryan Robowski allowed two in the eighth making it 11-1.

Saupold (1-2) has dropped consecutive starts. He allowed nine runs on 11 hits with a walk and a strikeout in three innings of work.
