Featured Silver Hawk - July 23
Working out at the Arizona Diamondbacks facility in the Dominican Republic over the offseason, Alberto was around on the day that the crew from the movie "Sugar" came to film some scenes. That ultimately led to a role for Alberto as an extra sitting in the stands, holding a radar gun in the opening scenes of the movie.
"Sugar" is a film about a baseball player from the Dominican Republic who comes to the United States to pursue a playing career. The movie tracks the player through his minor league ups and downs, something that Alberto and many of his Silver Hawks teammates have experienced on their own.
"I think the movie will cause an impact for people here," Alberto told the South Bend Tribune. "They're going to get to know what it's really like for baseball players who come from other countries. ... They'll know the hardships we go through."
While Alberto may not be a movie star, he certainly has played an important role on the Silver Hawks this season. He leads the Silver Hawks with eight home runs, and has been valuable in his ability to play all three outfield spots effectively.
