Potawatomi Zoo Coming to Four Winds Field
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - If the cast of characters in the South Bend Cubs bullpen and dugout weren't enough, Four Winds Field will welcome more excitement Sunday, Aug. 23, when animals from the Potawatomi Zoo visit the ballpark.
The South Bend Cubs and the Potawatomi Zoo have teamed up to bring a variety of animals (subject to change), including a Burmese python, a barn owl, a macaw, a goat, a tenrec, a milk snake, a hissing cockroach, an African ball python, a donkey, a skink, a bearded dragon and a tortoise, to the Cubs' Sunday matchup with Fort Wayne at 2:05 p.m. ET. The animals will be exhibited beyond the center-field wall near the main gates.
"We're very excited about the partnership with the Potawatomi Zoo," South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart said. "Both the zoo and Four Winds Field are great venues for affordable family entertainment, and this will be another fun and exciting day for our guests at the ballpark. We actually had some of our players visit the zoo earlier this month, and they had a blast."
At the game, representatives from the Potawatomi Zoo will be passing out coupons that grant one free child admission with one paid adult general admission.
The Potawatomi Zoo, the oldest zoo in Indiana, is located in South Bend and is home to more than 400 animals.
Sunday's game against the TinCaps marks South Bend's final Sunday home game of the regular season. As part of Sunday Funday Kids Club Day, presented by Tony Sacco's and B100, youngsters can play catch on the field before the game and meet their favorite Cubs players during the post-game autograph session. Additionally, the first 750 fans through the gates receive a Miguel Montero bobblehead, presented by Mutual Bank.
