You just know something special is going to happen when Braiden Ward puts on an Operation Fly Together jersey. Spokane's second baseman set a Minor League record with six stolen bases - including a straight steal of home - while wearing it on May 3rd. In tonight's encore performance, Ward drilled his first two home runs of the season and drove in three, but the Indians still fell to the Canadians, 7-3, in front of 4,881 fans at Avista Stadium for Armed Forces Appreciation & Fireworks Night presented by Froyo Earth, KHQ, & 103.5 The Game.

TOP PERFORMERS

Ward is best known for his speed - he's tied for the league lead with 16 stolen bases - but the former UW Husky showed he's got some pop in his bat as well. The 25-year-old got the Indians on the board with a solo shot in the sixth inning and added a two-run shot into the Pepsi Porch in the eighth inning for good measure. Ward now leads the Northwest League in batting (.322), slugging (.563), OPS (.985), triples (4), extra-base hits (13), and stolen bases (16).

Sergio Sanchez tossed two scoreless innings of relief to keep the Indians within striking distance.
