JUPITER, Fla. (June 19, 2021) – Matt Dyer had an explosive day at the plate to help the St. Lucie Mets beat the Jupiter Hammerheads 8-5 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday.

Dyer went 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double, a hit-by-pitch, four RBI and two runs scored. His two-run homer in the second inning opened up a 3-0 lead.

Dyer’s second long ball came in the eighth inning to pad the Mets lead to 8-5.

Mets starter Franklin Parra pitched his longest outing of the season. He tossed 5.2 innings and held the Hammerheads to two runs (one earned) to get his second win.

Jupiter catcher Cameron Barstadt hit a massive three-run homer in the seventh inning to close the gap to 7-5. However, Dyer’s home run and good relief pitching in the eighth and ninth innings kept Jupiter from coming all the way back.

New York Mets reliever Dellin Betances (shoulder) made his third rehab appearance with St. Lucie. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning by striking out two batters to work around a pair of singles.

Reyson Santos pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to earn his fourth save.

Mets leadoff hitter Alex Ramirez went 3 for 5 with a triple.

Jaylen Palmer reached base three times on two walks and a single. He stole three bases for the second time in a game this series.

The Mets (22-19) and Hammerheads (21-20) wrap up their series on Sunday at noon.
