After an offseason of uncertainty, Royals fans will be yelling "Moooooooooose" at Kauffman Stadium for yet another season. The Royals announced Saturday that they have re-signed third baseman Mike Moustakas .

"Moose" is coming off a career year in which he broke the Royals' single-season record for home runs with 38, to go along with a .272 average (151-555) and 85 RBI. The 29-year old was a key part of the Royals' core that led to a World Series Championship in 2015, the teams' first title in 30 years.
Before his time in the Major Leagues, Moustakas spent time in Omaha during the 2010-11 and 2014 seasons. He hit for a .294 average (141-479) to go along with 26 homers and 96 RBI in just 115 games with the Storm Chasers. He set a Pacific Coast League record with 11 RBI as part of a three-homer night at Rosenblatt Stadium on August 30, 2010.
"Moose" also drove in the Storm Chasers' very first run at Werner Park in 2011, driving in Eric Hosmer with a double. He later made his major league debut with the Royals on June 11, 2011 against the Los Angeles Angels. He was selected by the Royals in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft out of Chatsworth High School in California.
Moustakas is a two-time All-Star and was named American League Comeback Player of the Year in 2017 after missing most of the 2016 season with a torn ACL. He also participated in the 2017 Home Run Derby after hitting 25 homers in the first half of the season.
Moustakas is the third player to recently sign with the Royals. First baseman Lucas Duda and outfielder Jon Jay also joined after the start of spring training in early February.
