Soler, Torres Recalled to Kansas City

The Kansas City Royals announced 2017 Storm Chasers infielder Ramon Torres and outfielder Jorge Soler have been recalled to Kansas City prior to the Royals' matchup this evening versus the Detroit Tigers.

Torres accumulated a .292 batting average (86-295) in 75 games with Omaha this year, adding 43 runs, ten doubles, one triple, six homers and 41 RBI. The 24-year-old also finished third on the team with 17 stolen bases. The native of the Dominican Republic made his Major League debut with Kansas City on June 7, posting a .242 mark (15-62) with eight runs, three doubles and three RBI in 23 contests.
Soler led all Storm Chasers players with 24 longballs this season, batting .267 (73-273) along with 49 runs, nine doubles and 59 RBI. The 25-year-old also paced Omaha with 50 walks, accumulating a .388 on-base percentage. In 29 bouts with Kansas City in 2017 he hit .154 (14-91) with seven runs, five doubles, two homers and six RBI.
With these transactions, 24 of the 34 players on the Royals' active roster have played with the Storm Chasers at some point in their professional careers. That includes 14 who participated in a game for Omaha during the 2017 campaign.
The Storm Chasers begin their 50th season in franchise history at Werner Park on April 5, 2018 versus the Colorado Sky Sox. Omaha will also face off against the Kansas City Royals in an exhibition game at Werner Park on March 26, 2018.
