Storm Chasers Shut Out in NOLA

Omaha Drops Fifth Straight Away From Home
April 26, 2014

Metairie, LA - After two lengthy and high-scoring games, New Orleans blanked Omaha, 3-0, Saturday evening in a game much more typical of those normally played at Zephyr Field. The Storm Chasers have lost each of the first three games of the series to dip to 10-12 overall and 1-5 on the road.

The Zephyrs scored in the first inning for a third straight night on a two-out RBI hit by Mark Canha and added another marker in the fifth on a run-producing ground out by Kyle Jensen, who has knocked in a run in all three games of the set. Omaha starter Aaron Brooks was tagged with the defeat after he yielded two runs on six hits while walking a pair and striking out three over five frames. Donnie Joseph and Buddy Baumann each tossed a scoreless inning before Spencer Patton gave up a homer to Canha in the eighth that completed the scoring.

NOLA starter Adam Conley earned the victory after he allowed five hits, all singles, walked two and struck out seven over seven innings. Arquimedes Caminero struck out the side in the ninth inning to finish off two shutout frames and send the Chasers to an 11th loss in their last 13 games in Louisiana. Omaha put two runners on in the fourth but Conley got Carlos Peguero to ground into a double play to end that threat and another rally was squashed by the southpaw in the seventh with a couple of strikeouts and a fly out after the first two hitters reached.

The series wraps up Sunday afternoon with Omaha left-hander John Lamb getting the starting nod against NOLA right-hander Elih Villanueva. Coverage of the game gets underway at 12:40 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
