JACKSONVILLE, FL – In a game that featured multiple big innings, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (4-1) flexed their offensive firepower en route to a high-scoring performance against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (1-4), taking their day game 10-3 on Wednesday afternoon at VyStar Ballpark.

Sugar Land got the bats going early, igniting the second inning with a flurry of hits and walks. Cavan Biggio singled to start the frame, followed by a hit by pitch of Collin Price and a César Salazar walk to load the bases. Taylor Trammell then doubled in two runs, and moments later, Shay Whitcomb cleared the bases with a three-run homer, giving the Space Cowboys a commanding 5-0 lead.

Jacksonville began to chip away in the bottom of the second. Singles from Daniel Johnson and Jacob Berry set the stage for Brian Navarreto, who doubled in the first run of the day for the Jumbo Shrimp. Navarreto stayed hot, launching a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-3 Sugar Land.

The Space Cowboys answered in the sixth with another dominant inning. Kellen Strahm drew a walk, stole second and Salazar’s single moved him to third. Trammell’s sacrifice bunt brought Strahm home, and Whitcomb launched his second home run of the game, extending his RBI total to five. Jack Winkler singled and CJ Alexander followed with a homer to cap the inning, scoring the fifth run of the frame.

On the mound, reliever JP France pitched 2.1 strong innings of relief, striking out four batters to help secure the lead. A trio of RHP Alimber Santa, LHP Tom Cosgrove and RHP Michael Knorr combined for 3.0 innings of scoreless relief, giving up just one hit to carry the Space Cowboys to the victory.
