CLEARWATER, Florida -- The Clearwater Threshers will welcome canine companions during every Sunday home game at Spectrum Field, as part of the Dog Days of Summer in 2018.
Each Sunday home game the Threshers will offer dog tickets for $6, and proceeds from every dog ticket sold will be donated to a local nonprofit group. The Threshers are scheduled to play a total of eight Sunday home games this season.
The promotion kicks off with the return of Bark at the Ballpark on April 15, when the Threshers host the Bradenton Marauders at 1 p.m. The day will feature a dog bowl giveaway, vendors, and artisans on the concourse, and proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Pinellas. Hydration stations will be set up in the stadium, and dogs can also run the bases after the game.
The Dog Days of Summer will continue on May 6, with a 1 p.m. game time against the Dunedin Blue Jays. Dog ticket proceeds will benefit Rescue A Dog, a Pinellas County nonprofit that works to alleviate the number of dogs in shelters by finding foster homes and promoting adoption.
Beds For All Paws, an organization that takes donated materials and turns them into beds for pets that are then donated to shelters in need, will be the beneficiary of the June 3 edition of Dog Days of Summer.
Other Dog Days of Summer will include:
- June 3, 24
- July 1, 8
- August 12, 26
On Sundays, dogs will not be permitted in sections 114-116, the club level, and Sunday Brunch.
