The Tri-City ValleyCats used five late runs, including Seth Beer's fourth home run of the season, to take down the Staten Island Yankees in their series opener on Sunday afternoon.

Beer, who went deep twice on Saturday, continued to swing a hot bat with two hits and his league-leading fourth homer of the year.
Luis Garcia started the game on the mound for Tri-City, pitching three hitless innings.
Garcia then handed the ball off to Shawn Dubin, who allowed the only two runs of the game in the sixth inning.
Then trailing Staten Island 2-0 entering the seventh, Juan Pineda tied the game with a two-run double.
The go-ahead run then scored on an RBI-groundout from Alex Holderbach as Tri-City entered the eighth inning up by one run.
After Beer's homer extended the lead to two in the eighth, Gilberto Celestino capped the game's scoring by bringing Luis Encarnacion home from third on a sacrifice fly.
Felipe Tejada earned the win for the ValleyCats, pitching three and a third scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Staten Island got the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth inning after Ian Hardman walked two and gave up one hit to load the bases.
Jason Bell then elected to bring in Humberto Castellano to record the games final out, stranding the bases loaded.
Castellanos was credited with a save, while Hardman was awarded a hold.
Now with a record of 6-4, the ValleyCats hold sole possession of first place in the New York-Penn League's Stedler Division for the first time this year.
They will continue their series with the Staten Island Yankees on Monday night with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
