"An internship is one of the most important first steps to starting a career in the sports industry."
The Tri-City ValleyCats Internship Program for Professional Development provides real world, hands-on training in numerous professional career paths within sports. All interns will gain experience in event management, customer service, and promotions. In addition to learning from and working with baseball professionals on a daily basis, interns will have the opportunity to grow their network and meet professionals within the industry, league, and baseball community.
To be considered for the Tri-City ValleyCats Internship Program for Professional Development, students must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at a college or university during the internship, or have just graduated in the previous semester. All ValleyCats interns receive a monthly stipend during the program and hourly wages during home games. If fulfilling an academic requirement, college credit may also be awarded.
Professional Development & Special Events
The ValleyCats internship experience goes far beyond experience working at a ballpark. Past events for interns have included the Cat'athalon - an "Amazing Race" style event to learn the ins and outs the stadium and operation, guest speakers from across the industry, Staff vs Intern Baseball game, and trips introducing interns to unique experiences, people, and places in NY's Capital Region. Examples of previous trips include Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame, NYPL All-Star Games, Saratoga Race Course, and other Minor League ballparks.
